Xeomin injectable treatments, one of the newest innovations in facial rejuvenation, are a quick and painless method for reducing those tell-tale signs of aging that appear along the eyes, mouth and brow. It’s a quick, nonsurgical procedure that’s performed in the doctor’s office and takes less than 30 minutes. Xeomin smooths out fine lines and wrinkles that creep up as the skin ages. Most people see results within seven to 14 days, with many seeing immediate results before leaving the office.

If you’ve tried cosmetic procedures in the past and seen limited results, Xeomin offers a new and improved formula that delivers positive results where other product lines may fall short. The treatment is painless with little to no side effects so that you can go on with your day as usual.

Xeomin – What Is It?

Over the years, the facial expressions we use the most turn into the lines and wrinkles that come with age. Lines that only appeared when specific facial muscles were used have now become etched into the skin itself. What were once dynamic lines that moved with the face become static wrinkles that are always visible. Xeomin can make static wrinkles go away.

First approved by the FDA in 2010, Xeomin injections work in much the same way as Botox but also offers certain key benefits that Botox doesn’t. Xeomin’s treatment effects help reduce the lines that cause:

  • Crow’s feet
  • Frown lines
  • Brow wrinkles
  • Bunny lines

Xeomin is made from incobotulinum toxin A, or botulism toxin, the same material used in the making of Botox. Botulism toxin naturally blocks nerve and muscle activities, causing an overall reduction in muscle activity when administered in minute amounts. Within a short time, the effects of reduced muscle movements cause static wrinkles to smooth out, restoring a fresh, youthful look.

Xeomin Vs. Botox – What’s the Difference?

Xeomin and Botox are two brands of the same material, much like brands of toothpaste that vary in benefits and effects. Botulism toxin A is the active ingredient in both substances, so their differences derive from the presence or absence of additive materials. Whereas Botox does contain additives, Xeomin does not. Xeomin is a pure form of botulism toxin A. As a result, Botox formulations require refrigeration, while Xeomin doesn’t.

The absence of additives in Xeomin also reduces the risk of your body developing antibodies to the treatment. The body creates antibodies in response to foreign substances that it perceives as threats. In effect, the presence of antibodies weakens the desired effects of the treatment. With Xeomin, this doesn’t happen.

The Xeomin Procedure – Quick and Painless

Xeomin injections take 10 minutes or less and can be done in our office during your lunch hour, after work or whenever you have a free block of time.

The procedure starts with cleaning the areas where lines and wrinkles are present. Your technician will then have you move your facial muscles to activate the areas to be injected. Next, the technician will map out the injection spots, which usually entails five to 20 injections or pricks.

The needle used to inject Xeomin is small. This means it doesn’t go deep enough into the skin to cause any real pain. Ice packs will be used to numb the area where the needle goes in.

You may experience slight swelling once the procedure is done, but no real side effects that show you’ve had cosmetic work done. Lines and wrinkles gradually smooth away over the course of a week or two, so you can plan your appointment accordingly if you have a big event coming up.

Is Xeomin Right for Me?

If you want to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, Xeomin injectable treatments offer a safe and effective solution. Treatment results can vary depending on the area that’s treated, with the forehead and eyes responding most favorably to Xeomin. As the treatment takes effect, your facial expression and overall appearance will start to look more relaxed and alert.

The effects of Xeomin last anywhere from three to six months, at which time another treatment is necessary. As the muscles of your face start to adjust to the effects of the procedure, your skin will remain smooth for longer intervals. This means fewer treatments and longer time intervals between treatments.

As with any medical procedure, Xeomin injections should not be considered when certain medical conditions are present. These conditions include:

  • Pregnancy
  • Myasthenia gravis
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Lambert-Eaton syndrome

As a facial rejuvenation alternative, if you’re tried Botox with less than favorable results, you may respond better to Xeomin. When Botox effects don’t last long or weaken over time, the body has likely formed antibodies to counteract the drug’s effects. Xeomin’s additive-free formulation is known to work better as a Botox alternative under these conditions.

Personalized Treatment Options

We place a heavy emphasis on providing each patient with a personalized treatment experience. Understanding your specific concerns and developing a treatment plan that delivers the result you want is the foundation of our treatment approach.

Dr. Leary specializes in a variety of treatments, so your Xeomin procedure will be tailor-made to produce the results you want. In cases where further enhancement is needed, dermal fillers work well at smoothing out lines and wrinkles around the nose and mouth. Both procedures (also known as a liquid facelift) are performed in a single office visit, giving you an overall youthful appearance.

Xeomin Cost Considerations

Xeomin treatment costs are determined on a per unit basis. Rather than charge for the number of facial areas treated, we charge you by the number of Xeomin units we use during the procedure. In this way, you only pay for the amount that’s used.

Xeomin comes in 50-unit and 100-unit vials, so pricing is straightforward. We also reconstitute the Xeomin as required by manufacturer guidelines to ensure the dosage administered adheres to treatment guidelines.
